2. Make Sure Your Customers Always Have Your Most Current Sales Material
Your customers deserve to have your current material in a timely manner so that they have time to go through it and make good choices. It is a part of providing good customer service. They may not buy every single time, but they definitely won't buy if they have to chase you for a catalogue.
3. Consistent Follow Up
Besides #10 which we will get to later, this is one of the most important things you can do. Your customers want to hear from you. They get busy and forget to order. I get thanked all the time for reminding my customers it's time to order. The best way to contact them is by phone, but you can also email, text, or Facebook PM them, or have a group like I do for my customers. Even if you are using the other methods for contact I would still suggest that you call them every once in a while and make personal contact. It makes all the difference in the world.
4. Samples
Samples when used properly are a great way to increase sales. The big thing about samples is to do follow up. Don't just give a sample and hope that they try it and buy it. Call them and ask if they tried it and liked it. If they liked it, offer them a special deal to buy the full size one.
5. Product Testimonials
One of the best ways to get your customers on new products is to use them yourself and then tell your customers why you like it. They trust you, and when you say a product is good, they will try it on your say so.
6. Newsletters
The more forms of communication you can have with your customer the better. Your newsletter can be on paper or electronic, doesn't matter which one. Include a special that is available only to the people who sign up for your newsletter. You can also include product info, new ideas on how to use your product, and customer shout outs. Use you creativity and make it fun.
7. Customer Testimonials
These are really great to use when promoting products that you can't use. For example, you are 30 years old and are trying to promote the 60 year old skin care to someone. You could say, "I am too young for this but my customer so and so loves it. She says it makes her skin (insert what the customer said about the product.)" Customer testimonials are also good because it shows that there are more people than just you that loves the product.
8. Birthdays
Who doesn't want to have their birthday remembered and celebrated? Send out a birthday card with a couple of samples and a coupon for a nice discount on their next order. It will make them feel special and they will stay loyal to you.
9. Draws, Raffles and Giveaways
Give back to your customers and be generous. Take products that you have gotten at a good discount or for free and give them away. Do a draw, or offer them a free product if they order so much by a certain date.
10. CARE ABOUT THEM
None of the other ideas will work if you don't care about your customers first as people. My customers are like an extended part of my family. I am a part of their lives and they are a part of mine. I listen to them, rejoice with them in the good times and have even cried with a few of them in the bad times, and because of that, they are incredibly loyal to me, and would not go with any other Rep. Please don't fake it. Your customers know when you don't really care and only want their order.
